The MEADS UHF (Ultra High Frequency) Surveillance Radar is a key component of the MEADS advanced medium range air defense system. Its primary mission is to provide long-range air surveillance against a variety of airborne threats such as fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, stealth aircraft, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), ballistic and cruise missiles. The MEADS UHF Surveillance Radar has greater range and more sensitivity than legacy surveillance radars and is equipped with SELEX Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) subsystem.
